What's been going on with my life you ask? Lots of things, let me tell you. We are currently in the process of moving from one location infested with spiders to a new palace on the southern side of town. One thing I really look forward to do when I get there is doing my laundry in the same place I live. I drive home some weekends to do laundry, and on others I go to the laundry mat.

The laundry mat is such a strange place to me, and I'm somewhat afraid of it at times. First off, smoking is allowed everywhere in the building. Apparently it's not a big deal to smoke while everyone else is trying to clean their clothes, maybe even cleaning off the smell of smoke. It really becomes a vicious cycle (no pun intended). The management is on top of things, though, for they have strategically placed 5-gallon pales of sand around the building for people to stomp out their cigs. Convenience is very important, you see.

This second point was brought to my attention by my roommate. The double-loader machine, which is for two loads, costs $1.75. The triple-loader machine, for three loads, costs $3.50. Quickly, do that math in your head. If you get two double loaders, you pay $3.50 and get four loads! That's one more load than the triple-loader. The only possible scenario I could come up with where this would ever be useful is if you have THREE LOADS, but you are still paying more since you only get three loads when you could have gotten four for the same price.

Lastly, do you know how awkward it is when you start folding your clothes and find a foreign pair of whitey-tighties hidden amongst your precious undergarments? It's stomach-churning. I really don't like to talk about it.

Just to bring things full circle here, if you or someone you are very close to owns a laundry mat, please know I have nothing against them, just the strange environment that exists in the laundry mat. Thanks.
